Thur. Dec 3.My dad had his surgery today. His sister, my aunt Kathy from CA, is there with him. He is in Seattle. What I know as of 4:30 UT time is that the Dr's took him back at 6:00 a.m. started the surgery at 9:00/10:00 UT time. It was suppose to be a 3 hour surgery. Around 12:50/1:50 UT time I got a text that said they had to open him up as the scope did not have enough access. They had not removed the tumor yet but he was stable. Then I found out that at 1:13/2:13 UT time that the tumor has been removed. I will not get to talk to my dad today but I will give my aunt Kathy a call after work and give more of an update.
Fri. Dec 4 - I talked to my aunt Kathy and she said that when they were using the laproscopic scope they found lesion type things on his kidneys so they cleaned that all up and then realized they weren't gonna be able to get the tumor out with the scope so they had to cut him open. It was good that they cleaned it up before they cut him open though so that his incision is smaller. When I talked to her at 4:30/5:30 UT time, he was still in recovery and she had not seen him yet. She was told they were moving him to ICU so she was waiting up there for him. She got off the phone with me to find out what was going on. She called me back at 7:30/8:30 that night to tell me that he is doing good and they are just going to let him rest. I got a text from her this morning at 9:55/10:55 UT time saying that they are moving him out of ICU today and that he is doing great! I'm so glad he's doing good!
I asked my Aunt Kathy how my dad looks and she sent me this picture! He's giving me a thumbs up, so I think he is doing good!

Monday - Dec 7 I called my dad yesterday afternoon and learned that he is not doing very well. He is having a hard time breathing, they want his oxygen levels to be at 92% and his were at like 85%. He is also starting to go into kidney failure. He has a descended stomach, which is causing him to be very uncomfortable, and a massive bloating feeling. They are monitoring him and giving him breathing treatments to help him get more comfortable. When I called him this morning, he said he's still feeling the same. They still have him on a liquid diet, yesterday they gave him ice chips to eat. They had to move his intestines during the surgery so they don't want him to eat anything yet.
Thursday - Dec 10 Yesterday my dad was suppose to be released from the hospital but he started throwing up and pooping blood. So they kept him to find out why. They took him up to ICU, gave him a blood transfusion and put him on a respirator. So, today they did a scope on him to find out where the bleeding is coming from. They were able to find that he had a bleeding ulcer, and were able to get it to stop. Right now they are going to do another scope just to make sure that his bleeding has stopped, if they got it all then they will take him off the respirator and move him out of ICU.
Friday Dec 18 - My dad is FINALLY released from the hospital and on his way home. It has been a few weeks of an emotional roller coaster for him but he is feeling good and should have a good recovery now. I'm thankful he is going home!
